THE FILM
KRIZALIT is a new short film by Arantxa Ibarra & Naz Tokgöz that explores themes of identity, belonging, and intricate love.
The story follows Deniz, an enigmatic young woman drawn into the vibrant life of modern Turkey. She alternates between the euphoria of her intricate love with a Turkish woman, Melisa, and the weight of feeling like an outsider.
Set against the backdrop of a country in flux, the story weaves subtle hints about Deniz's true nature while delicately portraying the healing journey of existing within a city so capable of profound love.

Our main goal with KRIZALIT is to ask the question: "How do we love in places that teach us not to?". We want to show how hard it can be to love someone of the same sex in today's society. Turkey, and Istanbul, serve as a powerful backdrop—a place of "profound love, yet at times challenged to extend that love to others".
This film is a quiet, powerful portrait of "affection, memory, and constraint". At our UK premiere, we realized just how personally and universally this story can resonate. We want to share that feeling and connect with audiences around the world.
We are now raising funds to support our international distribution and festival campaign. The film is already an official selection of the Izmir International Film Festival and the prestigious Iris Prize Film Festival (BAFTA and Oscar-qualifying festivals).
